The host of the 2024 Oscar ceremony made reference to the sex scenes starring Stone in ‘Poor Creatures’
Emma Stone denied calling Jimmy Kimmel of “asshole” during the Oscar. After some scenes of Poor Creatures to be shown during the 2024 ceremony, the presenter stated: “These were the excerpts from Poor Creatures that we can show on television”. Kimmel was referencing the sex scenes in the film Yorgos Lanthimos.
In a video that went viral on social media, stone reacted to the host’s speech Oscar rolling her eyes and making a comment to her husband. Internet users who took the risk of lip reading pointed out that she would have called Kimmel of “asshole”.
To the The Hollywood Reporter (via NME), however, the interpreter Bella Baxter denied that he swore Jimmy and who was bothered by the joke: “Did he upset me? No! I didn’t call him an asshole. What did I say? I didn’t call him an asshole. I wasn’t upset at all. I’ll need to take a look. I’m almost impossible to be offended.”
On the same night, stone took his second Oscar for Best Actress.
