Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix: Charles, Edwin and Crystal already appeared in another series!

Dead Boy Detectives is the latest hit series on Netflix. This adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comics, which we already owe Sandman on the same platform, brings us to Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two detectives who solve the investigation in the form of ghosts.

They will do anything to stay together, including escaping evil witches, hell, and death itself. With the help of a psychic named Crystal and her friend Nico, they solve the most interesting paranormal cases in the mortal world.

Created by Steve Yockey (Supernatural), Jeremy Carver and Greg Berlanti (Flash, Arrow…), Dead Boy Detectives was once developed for the HBO Max platform under the DC Studios banner before it ended up on Netflix. The series, deliciously fun and slightly edgy, was meant to be a spin-off of Doom Patrol.

Two ghosts and a medium

In September 2021, Doom Patrol fans will discover Season 3 of the DC superhero series, also based on Neil Gaiman’s comics. In episode 3, part of the group is transported to the afterlife. To be able to contact them and help them get back, Dorothy (Abby Monterey) and Larry (Matt Boomer) turn to an agency like no other: Dead Boy Detectives.

At the time, Charles was played by Sebastian Croft, Edwins Ty Tennant (David Tennant’s son) and Crystal Madalyn Horcher. This will be their first and last foray into the Doom Patrol universe. It should be said that the leaders of DC Studios at the time intended to offer them a spin-off. It will be done in a few weeks… but with a whole new cast.

The trio will be replaced in the shortest possible time by George Rackstrew, Jayden Revere and Cassius Nelson. After months of development and a change at the helm at DC Studios, the broadcast rights will finally be sold to Netflix.
