This is the second warning for Prime Video. After last year’s excellent adaptation of The Last of Us, the platform is taking a new hit with Fallout. This series of the video game franchise of the same name won over both the press and the audience. Proof if ever there was one that the American giant knows how to do it when it comes to bringing the world of video games to the screen.
After this new success, and with Fallout and The Last of Us seasons 2 to look forward to, Prime Video is already thinking about the future. And there’s a project we’re looking forward to: the God of War series. Playstation announced in 2018, so this adaptation will be developed with Amazon.
Fallout: Did you catch the title of the SF series? He’s hiding more than you think!
What is it about?
A game based on ancient mythologies, God of War tells the story of Kratos, a Spartan warrior haunted by his past and sent by the Greek gods to kill Ares, the god of war. After discovering about the past, man destroys Olympus with the attack of Zeus.
In 2018 and after 6 episodes, Playstation decided to reboot God of War universe by changing the location. Kratos, now a father, must defend himself from the Norse gods who want to attack him.
And it’s into this arc that the Prime Video series will fit. We have to follow the hero who visits different realms such as Midgard, Alfheim or even Elheim – the realm of the dead – with his descendants, Atreus and Mimir, Odin’s former advisor who was rejected by the king of Norway. the gods.
where is the project
Two years after its announcement, we still don’t know much about the God of War series. He is still under development – By this I mean the writing process. Season 1 was written by Mark Fergus and Hawke Ostby (Iron Man) and directed by Rafe Judkins, formerly of The Wheel of Time. The writers’ strike that rocked Hollywood last summer prevented teams from moving forward the way they wanted to. Currently, Prime Video has not announced a release date, although a 2025 date was once announced.
No actor has been attached to the project at this time, although a few names are being floated. Actor Christopher Judge – unforgettable Teal’c in Stargate SG-1, has made no secret of his desire to reprise his role, the one who lends his features and gestures to Kratos in the video games. The latter also half-declared that his main rival for the role, namely Dave Bautista, would not be an interesting choice.
Don’t get me wrong, I guess @DaveBautista Great, but…
