In 2020, Paramount+ scored very well at the box office with Sonic, the live-action adaptation of Sega’s games. After having to adjust the design of The Blue Hedgehog, the studios still drew more than 2 million viewers to French theaters for the first installment (and 4.3 million cumulatively for the second).

In Sonic 2, the writers went even further in fan service by introducing two characters well known to players: Tails the yellow hedgehog and Knuckles the red hedgehog. The three heroes are then forced to team up to defeat the returning Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) ready for battle.

And it is the red hedgehog with a strong character that is at the center of the live-action series created for the Paramount+ platform. Although it was designed for the small screen, Knuckles is just like the movies: fun, light and action-packed. We will find the champion shortly after the action of Sonic 2

Knuckles tries to come to terms with his life on Earth, along with Sonic and Tails (both seen in the first episode). When Wade (Adam Pally) is in trouble, she decides to help him become the champion he truly is, but he also has to deal with an outside threat.

The series is set in Green Hills, just like the movies, and marks the return of some characters (Wade, Maddie) but also new faces that parents will definitely recognize, such as Kid Cudi and Rory McCann (The Mountain in the Royal Courts). Christopher Lloyd provides the voice of Pachacamac, a great chief of the Lesser tribe. The latter is once again voiced by Idris Elba.
