According to the clip’s description on YouTube, the mandrill Rafiki will tell Mufasa’s story to Simba and Nala’s daughter Kiara. This narrative will reveal a surprising fact: Mufasa was an orphaned lion.

This chance encounter sets in motion the journey of an extraordinary group of misfits in search of their bonds will be tested as they work together to escape a menacing and deadly enemy,” is part of the description.

The images will showcase Mufasa’s early life, highlighting his relationship with Rafiki and his experiences on the African savannah. During this time, both comical and dangerous interactions with other animals will be shown. Although not officially confirmed, there are speculations that the film may also have musical elements, following the style of the live-action ‘The Lion King’.

The film, directed by Barry Jenkins, known for his work on films such as “Moonlight,” “Aftersun” and “If Beale Street Could Talk,” is slated to hit theaters on December 20. The cast has been announced and it is notable that several actors who participated in the previous version of the film, which was released in 2019, will reprise their roles. These include Beyoncé as Nala, Donald Glover as Simba, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

In addition, other established artists have been confirmed to join the cast of the Disney film. They include Thandiwe Newton, Mads Mikkelsen, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David and Tiffany Boone.

One notable aspect revealed in the trailer is that Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé’s daughter, will be voicing the character of Nala. This mother-daughter collaboration adds a unique element to the project, recalling their work together in the 2020 film ‘Black King’.

Shortly after Disney’s announcement, the hashtag #MufasaTheLionKing trended on social media, prompting a wave of opinions and comments from netizens.

“I really thought about Mufasa’s story when I was a kid. Now I’m ready for it”, “I’m really surprised. The environments look nicer and more colorful and the animals have more expression and life”, “Ok Disney, I’m feeling a little optimistic about this “, “I’m glad they listened to the fans and allowed the characters to have more intense facial expressions” or “This has potential, I definitely like that they’re expanding the universes instead of doing remakes” , were some of them.
