Based on the experience of Richard Gadd, the story follows the life of a bartender named Donny Dunn, who becomes a victim of harassment by a woman named Martha Scott, whom he meets at his workplace when she buys him a drink.
Little by little, Donnie realizes that Martha is developing an obsession with him and begins to look for him everywhere with the intention of establishing a formal relationship. What initially began as face-to-face harassment quickly escalated into the digital realm as Martha bombarded Donnie with a barrage of emails, Facebook messages and tweets.
