With specific design changes and more technology, the new electric BMW i4 maintains the 544 horsepower of the sporty M50 version and loses the physical buttons
After the coupé and cabriolet versions, it was the turn of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé and i4 to acquire new features in Europe. Following in the footsteps of other configurations, the duo received specific changes in design and more technology. The new BMW 4 Series and i4 are expected to arrive in Brazil by the end of 2024.
At the front, the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe retained the controversial vertical double kidney grille. However, the piece has obtained a new internal finish, which varies depending on the version. On the i4, for example, the piece features a closed design, with particular attention to aerodynamics. The LED headlights also retain their dimensions, but acquire a new internal visual signature.

On the sides, the light alloy wheels up to 20″ have a new design in all versions. As an option there is the possibility of adding the M Sport package with a sporty design. At the rear, the LED laser lights have the same interior light arrangement of the M4 CSL.
Inside, this is where the 4 Series has changed the most. Following in the footsteps of the 3 Series, the coupe got a new digital instrument cluster, integrated into the multimedia center in a single frame. The steering wheel now has a flat base and is the same as the new 5 Series. The augmented reality features come from the new 7 Series.

Another innovation was the reduction in the number of physical buttons inside the vehicle, which now concentrates most of the commands via the multimedia center or voice commands. Under the hood, diesel versions and inline-six petrol engines get a 48V mild hybrid system, which adds 11PS of extra power.
The i4 electric version maintained the same specifications. The highlight is the sporty M50 version, which features two electric motors – one on each axle – which together offer 544 hp and 795 Nm, as well as full all-wheel drive. The range is up to 522 km in the European WLTP cycle.

The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé and i4 will arrive on the European market from July this year. Prices have not yet been released. As the models are imported into Brazil, the first units of the refreshed 4 Series are expected to arrive in the country by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
