Given the bad phase, Diniz will have the task of making the Tricolore rediscover the beautiful football, which he presented in 2023, in a decisive month for the World Cup
Fluminense will make its debut in the Copa do Brasil next Wednesday (1), at 4pm (Brasilia time), against Sampaio Corrêa, in Cariacica, in the first match of the third phase. Furthermore, the team will also define its future in the Libertadores, as it will play the remaining three matches of the first phase of the Libertadores in May.
The return match against Bolivia Querida will take place on the 22nd (Wednesday), at 7pm (Brasilia time), at the Maracanã. It is worth noting that next Wednesday’s match will be played at the Kléber Andrade stadium, where the Maranhão team has given up control of the pitch. In this sense, the Tricolor will play two consecutive matches at Espírito Santo at the beginning of the month.
This happens because the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro prohibited the clash against Atlético-MG, scheduled for Saturday (4), at 4pm (Brasilia time), from taking place in the city. On the same day, singer Madonna will perform on Copacabana beach, which promises to attract around one and a half million people. The duel with Galo is valid for the fifth round of the Brasileirão, and Fluminense currently occupies 16th place, with four points.
Decisive clashes for the Libertadores
On May 9th (Thursday) Fernando Diniz’s men return to the field for the Libertadores. In Chile, at 9pm, the team will face Colo-Colo in a crucial match for their hopes in the competition. Currently, Tricolor leads Group A with five points, but the Chilean team and Cerro Porteño are close behind with four. So, with such a compact group, scoring away from home will be important for the final stretch of the first phase.
Thus, the following week, on the 13th (Monday), at 7pm (Brasilia time), Fluminense will visit San Paolo in the tricolor duel for the sixth day of the Brasileirão. In the same week, in fact, the Rio team hosts Cerro Porteño, at the Maracanã, in the penultimate round of Group A of the continental tournament. The match will take place on the 16th (Thursday), at 7pm (Brasilia time), at the Maracanã.
The other weekend, the 19th (Sunday), at 4pm (Brasilia time), the Tricolor de Laranjeiras returns to play at the Maracanã, this time against Juventude in the Brasileirão. The next round will take place on the weekend of the 25th and 26th, but the CBF has not yet defined the date and time of the classic against Botafogo. Finally, on the 29th (Wednesday), at 9.30pm (Brasilia time), the Rio team closes the first phase of the Libertadores.
