In “Profession Danger” (as “The Fall Guy” is called in Spanish) Ryan Gosling plays Colt Steavers, a stuntman who is determined to win back the love of his life Jody (Emily Blunt), but his plans are revealed when his is tasked with finding a missing movie star.
The movie “The Fall Guy” is a remake of a TV series
“The Fall Guy” is a remake of a 1980s television series of the same name. The original series, which ran from 1981 to 1986, starred Lee Majors, Douglas Barr and Heather Thomas as part-time Hollywood stuntmen as bounty hunters.
In the series, Majors played Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stuntman who worked part-time as a bounty hunter. He used his physical abilities and knowledge of stunt effects (especially car stunts or the big GMC truck) to catch fugitives and criminals.
Although the 2024 film shares the main character’s name and profession with the TV series, the plot and characters are quite different. Instead of being a bounty hunter, Gosling’s character is a stuntman who becomes embroiled in a conspiracy after the movie star he works for disappears.
The Fall Guy movie offers a new interpretation of the original series, keeping the spirit of stunts and action, but with an updated plot and characters for modern audiences. With its mix of action, comedy and drama, ‘The Fall Guy’ is a tribute to the original series and an exciting addition to the action-comedy genre.
The film’s director, David Leitch, told “Variety” that “The Fall Guy” was his favorite show when he was a kid and that he watched it with his father. When he rewatched the show, he realized it had a “70s vibe,” so he decided to add nods to his other favorite action movies. Somehow the movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt became, rather, a kind of “The Long Goodbye” “with really great stunts,” as the director told the aforementioned magazine.
