Planet of the Apes: Reign arrives soon in Brazilian cinemas, and in addition to being a direct sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), the feature film promises to cause a turning point in the franchisein a way, connects both the current saga and the classic one – from 1968.
And to the director Wes Ball (Maze runner), these are the main reasons that give this new installment a “reason to exist”: “We are not just a fourth part, we are our own thing. We try to honor what came before, with the previous trilogy, but also with the original 1968 film,” the director said (Via: CNN).
“Unique” characters in an adventure film
Planet of the Apes: Reign time jumps after the conclusion of War for the Planet of the Apes. Many ape societies have grown since Caesar took his people to an oasis, while humans have been reduced to surviving and hiding in the shadows. Despite being responsible for the safety of the next generation of evolved primates, many are unaware of Caesar’s accomplishments.
And it is in this new scenario that an ape leader begins to enslave other groups to find human technology, while a young ape, who has seen his clan captured, embarks on a journey in search of freedom, with a young human girl who is the key to everything.
