Famous actors always have incredible anecdotes that they experienced on the set of a movie, and that’s exactly what happened to Hugh Jackman several years ago.
The 55-year-old Australian rose to fame thanks to his role as ‘Logan’ in the first mutant film ‘X-Men’, in 2000. The film was very well received by fans, which led to more films being made about these superheroes.
Most notably, Jackman reprized his role as ‘Wolverine’ every time he was asked, even when his friend Ryan Reynolds called him to join the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ movie.
Oddly enough, no one envisions another actor playing Wolverine more than Jackman, and a little-known fact is that maybe he could have stayed out of Marvel and the X-Men, but an unexpected fan stopped that from happening.
Hugh Jackman: The Story of How a Fan Stopped Actor from Losing ‘X-Men’ Role
It was 2022, when in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on his program “The Tonight Show”, he explained that he went to Toronto to audition as Wolverine and won the role. Shortly thereafter, he had to return to Los Angeles to collect his things, and there he was again asked to return to Canada, but there was one small detail: he did not have a visa.
Then, while in the immigration line, Jackman started to feel nervous because he knew he had to lie, which he wasn’t very good at. Although his speech seemed stable, a worker discovered that he had been in Canada a week ago and had to tell the truth, so he was ushered into an isolated room.
When asked, Jackman revealed that he wasn’t actually going to audition, but that he already had the role for the live-action “X-Men” movie. This shocked and delighted the customs officer, who asked for Jackman’s autograph and then let him go.
In the video below you can see and hear Jackman’s joke starting at minute 1:15.
