Flamengo and Minas take the lead in the NBB quarterfinals

Rubro-Negro beat Fortaleza, while the miners beat Sao Paulo, last Friday

Flamengo AND Mines the quarter-finals of the NBB with the victory last Friday. Rubro-Negro beat Fortaleza 79 to 71, at the Tijuca Tênis Clube, Rio de Janeiro, while the Minas Gerais team hosted Sao Paulo and beat their opponent with a score of 84 to 59, at the Minas Tênis Clube.

In Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Jaú took responsibility and finished the game as a scorer with 22 points. In the other match the protagonist was the Argentine Franco Baralle, author of 25 points, five assists, three rebounds and a steal. As for Sao Paulo, the highlight was the American Tyrone Curnell, who scored 17 points and three rebounds.

Flamengo and Fortaleza will face each other again this Tuesday at the Olympic Preparation Center, Fortaleza’s home stadium. The clash will be a best-of-five game in search of a place in the semi-finals of the Brazilian basketball tournament.

San Paolo and Minas, however, will return to the tournament next Monday (6th), at 8pm, for the second match of the clash. The second match between the clubs will take place at the Ginásio do Morumbi, in the capital of Sao Paulo. If the Minastenista team wins once again, they will be able to define their ranking in the NBB in the third duel.
