This is one of the film events of 2024 and the most anticipated return of the 77th Cannes Film Festival: the return of Francis Ford Coppola. The director of The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Secret Conversation will present his new film, Megalopolis, on May 16. A passion project that the filmmaker has been working on for many years.
After detection First image for Vanity Fair Together with the two heroes of the film, Adam Driver and Natalie Emmanuel, the director opens the first excerpt today. This May 4th is a special date for Francis Ford Coppola because it is the birthday of his wife, Eleanor Coppola, who died on April 12th.
The story of Megapolis unfolds in the futuristic New York, which was called New Rome. A change in the city creates a conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who wants to turn the metropolis into a utopia, and his opponent, Mayor Franklin Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who is too attached to regressive politics.
In this clip, we see Adam Driver on the roof, seemingly about to throw himself into the void. A dizzying extract that already makes you want to see more!
