Tonight, TF1 airs David Ayer’s DC film Suicide Squad, starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto as the Joker, an actor who will also appear on the same channel a bit later. In the second half of the evening, but in the Marvel Universe this time and as a vampire in the movie Morbius.
Suicide Squad 2021 saw a standalone sequel written and directed by James Gunn with the almost identical title, Suicide Squad, and it’s those two films we’re going to play with today. Can you tell me which of the two movies these fifteen pictures are from? Before we check that out, a few filming secrets about the movie that aired tonight.
Did you know?
Ryan Gosling says no
Ryan Gosling was approached to play the role of the Joker, but the actor ultimately turned down the coveted role because he did not want to do multiple films.
Quick merge
Will Smith and Margot Robbie have already starred in the feature film. It’s Diversion, where the sleazy actress played an apprentice criminal who has a relationship with a professional crook played by Smith.
Deep into the character of the Joker
Will Smith has revealed that Jared Leto was so invested in playing the Joker that they didn’t get to know each other during the six months of filming. So, outside of their shared scenes, Leto absolutely did not talk to Will Smith!
The latter recalls: “We worked together for six months and not a single word was exchanged outside of the period from “action” to “injury”. I actually haven’t come across it yet. (…) He was fully involved in the Joker character.“
