Warning – The following article contains spoilers for “The Fall Guy” as it specifically goes back to its ending and reveals one of its surprises. So please go ahead if you haven’t seen it yet.
When there’s not more, there’s more: that’s the motto of many big Hollywood productions, which like to hide a little bonus in the end credits, whether it’s a wink or a tease of the future. And not just after the Marvel Cinematic Universe made it a way of life.
The Fall Guy, in theaters May 1, is no exception to the rule. But he does it in his own way, with a few surprises.
For starters, we learn that Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), convicted of the murder he tried to cover up, has been arrested and replaced by… Jason Momoa. The real one, who makes a fun on-stage cameo in the final seconds before the credits.
Then the credits roll and show us behind the scenes of most of the action scenes: a way for the feature film to prove that Ryan Gosling actually did some stunts, but also to reveal the face of his understudy. A rare thing in Hollywood.
A timely cameo
Finally, The Fall Guy takes us back in time to a scene that recalls the arrest of Tom and Gail Meyer (Hannah Waddingham) by two police officers. Including one played by Lee Majors, the lead actor in the TV series The Man Who Falls Right, from which the film is inspired. And whose presence was expected.
Hence this sigh and this answer, “Players…”The one who also played a stuntman in 113 episodes of the series that aired between 1981 and 1986. A nod is indicative, of course, but that doesn’t stop the few people who have the reference from smiling. And who can explain it to others.
