Claudia Raia says goodbye to Globo: “I was lucky enough to have a salary for 40 years”

Following the restructuring of the channel, the actress will not have her contract renewed and understands the changes in television

In “Roda Viva”, presented by Vera Magalhães on TV Cultura, Claudia Raia commented on the end of her relationship with Globo. “My contract expires in July this year. I turned forty in March, on Globo, without interruptions.”

The 57-year-old actress started on the channel when she was a dancer and was called to appear in the comedy ‘Viva o Gordo’, by Jô Soares, with whom she dated.

“It’s a great farewell for me, with a lot of gratitude, a lot of joy, to have made my history there. I have built many alliances, many friends, many outstretched hands that I have received,” she says. She starred in hits such as “TV Pirata”, “Roque Santeiro”, “Sassaricando”, “Belíssima” and “A Favorita”.

“My professional training all began there, with those people. I am extremely grateful to Marinho, Boni, Daniel Filho, to all the people who contacted me, I did so many important things there.”

Raia says it will only be “see you later” because his relationship with Globo will never stop being “a love story”. She recognizes the privilege of four decades of stability provided by the company.

“I was very lucky in life to be an actress who had a 40-year contract. For having had a salary for 40 years. This is very rare in our profession. It’s a great fortune. I am very grateful to TV Globo for welcoming me, for being my companion all these years.”

The actress explains that on television “things are changing”. According to him, Globo lived like Hollywood in the 1940s and 1950s, with a fixed cast of 300, 400 actors. “It doesn’t work like that anymore,” she says, recognizing the need for the broadcaster to adapt to new times.

When asked about the decline in television ratings and the lesser impact of current teledrama, Claudia Raia underlines the influence that the communication vehicle maintains, despite the new media. “Open TV still has a very strong space in Brazil,” she says. “The soap opera still survives, it will have a long survival.”

The actress will perform until May 26th with the musical ‘Tarsila – A Brasileira’ at the Santander Theater, in Sao Paulo. There will be five shows at Viva Rio, from May 31st to June 2nd. On YouTube and other platforms, Raia debuted as host of the program “Maternidelas” together with Tata Estaniecki.
