‘Ugly Betty: The Story Continues’: Departing, Returning and New Cast

The success of “Yo soy Betty, la fea” was such that, more than 20 years after its premiere, it will have a second part.

“Ugly Betty: the story continues” will follow the protagonist of the story several years after the end of the Colombian soap opera, already a mother of a teenage daughter and a member of the family business.

Although there are currently not many details about the series, which will premiere on Prime Video on July 19, it is already known who will be part of the cast, how many familiar faces and how many new ones will I be able to see?

The cast of the second part of ‘Ugly Betty’ will bring back many of the actors we saw on the screen in 1999.

Of course, the story will be led by Ana María Orozco and Jorge Enrique Abello in the main roles, as Beatriz Pinzón and Armando Mendoza.

Other actors returning to the 2024 version of the novel are: Natalia Ramírez as Marcela Valencia, Lorna Cepeda as Patricia Fernández, Julián Arango as Hugo Lombardi, Ricardo Vélez as Mario Calderón or Mario Duarte as Nicolás Mora.

On behalf of Ecomoda we will also see the return of Luces Velásquez as Bertha, Marcela Posada as Sandra ‘La Jirafona’, Estefanía Gómez as Aura María, Julio César Herrera as Freddy and Alberto León Jaramillo as Saúl.

However, not all of the original story performers will return in ‘Ugly Betty: The Story Continues’. Such is the case of Luis Mesa, who gave life to Daniel Valencia, María Eugenia Arboleda, who played Mariana, Patrick Delmas, who played the French Michel and Martha Isabel Bolaños, who stepped into the shoes of Jenny ‘La Pupurucha’ . It is currently unknown what the reasons for their absences are and how they will be justified in history.

Apparently, the actors from ‘Ugly Betty’ who died before the new production started, such as Dora Caravid, Celmira Luzardo and Raúl Santana, will not return either.

Juanita Molina will, without a doubt, be one of those who steals the audience’s attention, as she will be tasked with giving life to Betty and Armando’s daughter.

Rodrigo Candamil, Zharick León and Sebastián Osorio will also be part of the cast of “Ugly Betty: The Story Continues,” though their roles have yet to be fully revealed.
