‘Furiosa’: Chris Hemsworth reveals why he didn’t like his wardrobe in the film

‘Furiosa’, the new spin-off of the Mad Max saga, is set to hit theaters in various parts of the world this May.

“Furiosa,” an origin story starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth

“Furiosa” will travel back in time to tell us the origin of the fierce and voracious warrior played by Charlize Theron in “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015).

As the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, it calls for epic locations and costumes, although the actors may not be so happy with the idea, as was the case with Chris Hemsworth, who plays the villainous Dementus.

Chris Hemsworth talks about his aversion to using smart

In an interview with “Entertainment Weekly,” Hemsworth admitted that he doesn’t like wearing capes on set. Since 2011, the Australian actor has played Thor in the MCU, a character who has worn the said outfit in all of his films.

After he started shooting ‘Furiosa’, he thought things would be different, but he didn’t expect that the cape would also be a part of his character.

“I was about to say it was nice not to wear a cape, but… I had a cape in this movie. And it is red (…) The absurdity of this” he expressed.

After realizing this detail, Hemsworth approached the director to talk about the similarity between the two characters, but the cape stayed because it is part of the antagonist’s personality.

“The comparison to ‘Thor’ is not intended, but I found it a great starting point. Playing the villain, transforming and inhabiting a completely different new body was a lot of fun. I loved. And that was the real attraction,” he added.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who was by Chris’ side during the interview, asked him if, after wearing capes for so long, he still hates them, to which he immediately replied: “You hate them, they’re too practical.”

The “Men in Black: International” and “Snow White” actor shared that the cape is usually a problem in action scenes, as it gets stuck on doors and other places, and even when filming “Thor” he had a special garment for the heavier ones sequence.

“In Thor, there was one (cloak) that was about a foot shorter than the normal battle cape, because you trip over it all the time. It’s very impractical.”

The movie “Furiosa” opens in Mexico on May 23, while in the United States it will be released in theaters on May 24.
