A piracy report by data analytics firm Muso highlights which TV programs were most illegally searched for in 2023. According to the document, used by copyright holders, intellectual property offices and governments, to monitor and develop strategies against digital piracy, last year there were almost 230 billion visits to Internet piracy platforms around the world.
The data also shows that in 2023 the illegal consumption of television programs on the internet grew by 4.2% compared to the previous year. Brazil ranks 13th among the countries with the highest number of visits to pirate platforms, representing 2.1% of global traffic.
According to the survey, 8 of the 10 most pirated titles were anime. Piracy is considered a historic problem for the industry. In Japan, the Overseas Content Distribution Association says that illegal consumption of entertainment produced in the country, including anime, manga and video games, caused a loss of 15 billion dollars (about R$ 77 billion) in 2021. The value is five times higher than that recorded in 2019. The information comes from G1.
