The French box office, after a rather boring April, is gaining color! After a bit of a surprise surprise success last Wednesday, Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom, on the other hand, had a very good opening day in France.

Due to two public holidays this week, the full opening day schedule in France is not yet available at the time of writing, but we do know the launch of the new film in the Planet of the Apes franchise.
Planet of the Apes takes the lead!
Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom records 240,102 records (without AVP). An excellent score for 2024, very close to what Artus recorded last week (252,691 entries, excluding previews).
However, the qualifying score compared to the run of the previous parts. It’s the weakest start of the franchise, but they all came out in a different context, pre-Covid.
Blue & Compagnie, 2nd, with over 130,000 entries
At No. 2 is the family film Blue & Company: 136,033 admissions (without AVP). In a press release, Paramount tops those figures on the public holiday this Thursday, May 9, and puts the total at 250,000 admissions.
Other figures available to date include Like a Monday (7,058 admissions) and the comedy L’Esprit Coubertin (4,513 admissions).
