The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power gets trailer and premiere date for season 2

Tolkien fan and Lord of the Rings, the wait is over! More than a year after the debut season of the series The Rings of Power, Amazon Prime Video just released a teaser trailer and release date for season two. Mark it on your calendar: August 29th.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m a fan of this universe, but the trailer is very good! And it features scenes that are very reminiscent of the shots of the original trilogy, from the beginning of the century.

The Rings of Power is set in the so-called Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the story of Frodo and companions. The second season of the series should show the rise of Sauron (Charlie Vickers), who concluded the first part by being unmasked by the protagonist Galadriel (Morfydd Clark).

Sauron, in fact, appears with a completely different appearance in the sequel, as shown in the official poster.

Without spoiling, Tolkien’s main villain is one of the most powerful wizards in this mythology created by the South African author and takes on different forms at different times, to deceive people.

Waiting for success

All the idolatry of Lord of the Rings became The Rings of Power an almost immediate success. The 1st season, however, did not escape criticism from the public and the media. Many of them pointed to protagonist Morfydd Clark, who didn’t bring much energy to his Galadriel.

The showrunners guarantee that they have listened to all suggestions and promise a second season of superior quality. Not that the first few issues were bad.

The production became one of Prime Video’s first original series to be watched by over 100 million people worldwide. On launch day, more than 24 billion minutes were streamed and more than 25 million viewers worldwide, marking the largest debut in the streaming service’s history.

The second season of the series is produced by showrunners and executive producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay. They join executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill and Gennifer Hutchison.

All eight episodes of the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are available on Amazon Prime Video. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to start “rewatching” them today!
