Watch films with interesting stories nominated for the Palme d’Or
The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival began on Tuesday (14/05) and will last until May 25. The event, known for attracting big stars and directors, promises to surprise audiences this year, especially after the release of the feature films competing for the Palme d’Or. Highlights of the list include politically charged productions and Brazilian films.
So, take a look at some of the works that will be exhibited at the festival!
1. Motel Destino

Produced by Karim Aïnouz, winner of the ‘Un certain Regard’ festival in Cannes with ‘The Invisible Life’, the Brazilian production is competing for the Palme d’Or at the 77th edition of the film festival. TO buildings, Heraldo (Iago Xavier), a young man from a humble family who is serving a sentence in a socio-educational unit, leaves detention and stays at the Motel Destino. There he meets a woman who is in an abusive relationship with a former police officer who also owns the motel, and everything changes when they start a relationship.
2. Types of kindness

Greek Yorgos Lanthimos presents his first film after ‘Poor Creatures’. The film, which again stars Emma Stone, tells three different stories that revolve around a police officer. The man tries to take control of his life while he has to deal with a wife who seems different and a woman who seeks special abilities.
3. The Apprentice

Directed by filmmaker Ali Abbasi, the film chronicles the trajectory professional of Donald Trump between the 70s and 80s, in New York. The plot follows the former president of the United States (Sebastian Stan) as he attempts to build a new real estate business empire. Furthermore, it narrates the young man’s relationship with the lawyer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong) and other important power connections.
4. Oh Canada

Directed by Paul Schrader, the film brings together actors Richard Gere, Jacob Elordi and Uma Thurman to tell the story of American director Leonard Fife who, like many deserters, moves to Canada to escape the war in Vietnam and avoid military service.
5. Emilia Perez

Directed and written by Jacques Audiard, “Emilia Perez” is a work set in Mexico and tells the story of the history of the lawyer Rita (Zoe Saldana), who wastes her talent working in a company that does not serve justice, but hides crimes. Everything changes when she receives a vital proposal from the cartel boss, Juan Del Monte, who wants to retire and disappear from the map.
