Thor 4: Tessa Thompson Says Valkyrie Will Not Be Defined By Her Sexuality

Tessa Thompson assured the public that Valkyrie will not be defined by sexuality she in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). In an interview with Yahoo! entertainmentthe actress explained that representation is an important part of the film, but that the character goes far beyond just being bisexual.

“We talked about it a lot, it was a big topic of conversation,” he said. “Because I really believe that audiences want to see these LGBTQ+ characters within these spaces. And I believe it is extremely important to have representation. And also as humans, I believe we are not defined by our sexuality, but by who we love.”

Thompson He added: “And so sometimes I think hanging a narrative completely on that is a way of really diminishing the humanity of the character. Because you don’t allow them to be anything else. It becomes a single storyline, especially in movies like this where you, frankly, don’t have a lot of room for multiple storylines.”

“So there was a lot of talk to figure out how to handle this with Valkyrie. And I feel really good, personally, about where we’ve come. I hope she’s a character that fans continue to connect with, that we have plenty of time to explore her. But whether or not she finds love in this movie doesn’t mean she isn’t a character yet. queer fabulous woman who is open to finding love when the time comes.”
