Jim Parsons’ name will forever be linked to that of Sheldon Cooper, the character who gave life to 12 seasons of “The Big Bang Theory.” Although the series ended in 2019, fans will be able to see the actor again in the shoes of the scientist who made them laugh so much.

All thanks to “Young Sheldon,” the 2017 spin-off of the aforementioned series, which explores the character Sheldon Cooper’s childhood in Texas.

Jim Parsons To Reprise His Role As Sheldon Cooper In ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 7 Finale

The 51-year-old actor was attached to “Young Sheldon” as the show’s producer and narrator for its 7 seasons, though he was an absent on-screen figure.

For this reason, many fans had ruled out the possibility of seeing him again in the shoes of the famous scientist.

However, the finale of season 7 of the series, which will be shown this week in the United States, brought a big surprise to the viewers: it will have a scene with Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik in their roles as Sheldon and Amy Farrah Fowler.

Parsons shared his thoughts on returning to the character in an interview with “People.” He said he felt a “slight hesitation” when he was approached for the cameo: “I just thought, ‘I really don’t want to revisit the character.’

In another conversation with “The View,” the performer reiterated that when the possibility began to be considered, “I was worried because I thought, ‘I’m not dying to put on (the character’s) clothes again.’

So “Young Sheldon” convinced Jim Parsons to make a cameo

As we know, the actor has finally agreed to make a special appearance in the ‘Young Sheldon’ finale.

As he commented in the aforementioned interviews, he decided to return to the role because “the way they wrote it (the ending)” he found it “so beautiful”.

On what it was like filming his final scene as Sheldon Cooper, Jim Parsons said, “It ended up being like a little extra coda or whatever of my experience with the character.”

“It felt very… I don’t know, sacred is too big a word, but to be with Mayim and do that, it was very special,” she added.

Parsons said the role gave him a chance to say a second goodbye to Sheldon: “I didn’t realize I wanted to say goodbye to the character that way, but I did and I’m so glad it happened.” he added.
