Is it worth checking out?

Based on the literary saga by Karin Slaughter, TF1 detective story follows an adventure. Will TrentSpecial Agent of the Georgian Bureau of Investigation.

Abandoned at birth, the latter grew up in Atlanta’s foster care system. A childhood marked by deep traumas that make him want no one to feel as abandoned as he does.

Hated by his peers for exposing police corruption, Will Trent is still the special agent with the highest clearance in the GBI. And for good reason, the latter can solve the most difficult cases thanks to the methodical analysis of the crime scene.

The first season’s run in the United States was successful: 3.61 million viewers for the first episode airing on ABC. And about 18 million across all platforms combined for the same episode in the first 5 weeks. As a prospective audience, ABC quickly ordered a season 2 (airing on the channel will end on May 21). The third season has been running since last month.

If the series does not revolutionize the detective genre – Will Trent is a classic procedural – it certainly stands out thanks to its gallery of characters. Here the heroes get hurt and drag the heavy suitcases of the past with them. As the season progresses, the series intertwines with police investigations and the development of its characters’ personal stories.

As such, we quickly become attached to Will, a dyslexic man whose body bears the scars of a brutal past that does not spare him. Since then, we’ve been watching episodes, not to investigate, but primarily to discover the story of this lovable hero and those drawn around him.

On the acting side, Ramon Rodriguez is simply superb in Trent’s well-dressed suit. The actor manages to delicately balance humor and emotion to make his character as human as he is endearing and invites us to follow his adventures.

In addition to impeccable acting, the series benefits from a careful, colorful and dynamic production, as well as a catchy soundtrack and humorous dialogue.

Despite these strengths, the series unfortunately suffers from the genre we know all too well. Investigations are often predictable and expect many twists and turns involving the characters. It’s enough to spoil the fun somewhat.

In short, Will Trent is an unpretentious series that stands out for its characters. In a television landscape saturated with detective series, lacking originality, it is entertaining. A series that fans of the genre should therefore like.
