Emma Stone will star in Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film, Bugonia

This will be the fourth work between the two, who collaborated on A Favorita (2018), Pobres Criaturas (2023) and the yet unreleased Types of Gentileza

Focus Features announced that Emma Stone will repeat, for the fourth time, the partnership with the director Yorgos Lanthimos in Bugoniaa remake of the South Korean comedy Save the Green Planet!which should start filming in 2024, between New York, in the United States, and the United Kingdom.

What it is Save the Green Planet!?

Save The Green Planet!which inspires the novelty of stone and Lanthimos, features a disillusioned young man who captures and tortures a businessman because he believes he is part of an alien invasion. From there, a battle of wits begins between the captor, his devoted girlfriend, the businessman and a private detective. Watch the trailer:

The original version of Save The Green Planet was directed by Jang Joon-hwan in 2003 and became a cult hit. The film won awards at fantasy festivals including those in Bucheon, Buenos Aires and Brussels, Rotterdam, Tokyo Filmex and Moscow. It also yielded Jang O Golden Bell Award for best new director in Korea in 2003.

The duo’s fourth partnership

Bugoniawhich does not yet have a date to hit theaters, will be the duo’s fourth work: the first was in The favorite, 2018; followed by Poor Creatureswhich yielded the stone the Oscar for Best Actress this year. Finally, they even collaborated on Types of Kindnesswhich hits North American cinemas on June 21st, but does not yet have a release date in Brazil.
