Gaming giant Sega has plans to adapt major franchises
Sonic, the video game adaptation of the blue hedgehog, was a hit in theaters. The 2022 sequel to the feature-length film surpassed the franchise’s own record, which had grossed $146,066,470 on the first film – while the second surpassed $147,069.41.
The good financial return inspired the sega, game developer and publisher, to seek more adaptations for the big screen. The brand has other franchises dear to the public, and, as he explained to IGN (via collider), the producer of Sonic, Toru Nakaharasees potential in the live-action format.
“The worlds created are full of drama, cutting-edge style and interesting characters. Stories like the Persona franchise really impact our fans, and we see an opportunity to expand the storyline like no one has seen – or played – before,” he explained.
In addition to persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Trauma Center, Catherineand 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rimare in the company’s plans.
