Neymar will only return to the pitch in September, says Jorge Jesus

Al-Hilal coach remains cautious as number 10 recovers from serious left knee injury

Almost a year after the serious injury suffered by Neymar, the Brazilian will have to wait a little longer to return to the pitch wearing the Al-Hilal shirt. During a press conference held on Tuesday (21), coach Jorge Jesus ruled out the attacker’s return at the start of next season and, with caution, believes that the player will be back on the field from September.

“The time they give Neymar, with an injury like this, is normally between 10 and 11 months. Neymar will not be operational at the start of next season. But we think, in September, October, he could be in a position to compete “said Jorge Jesus.

Despite his caution, Neymar has been carrying out physical training on the Al-Hilal coach pitch, and has also been seen playing with the ball during recreational activities. The expectation is that he would be available for the 2024/25 pre-season, but, according to Jorge Jesus’ prediction, his return will be postponed.

An injury excludes Neymar from the list for the Copa América

Neymar suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and meniscus in the Brazilian team’s defeat to Uruguay in October last year in a South American World Cup qualifier. Furthermore, the Brazilian champion has been excluded from coach Dorival Júnior’s list of players for Canarinho’s upcoming friendlies and for the Copa América, scheduled from 20 June to 14 July in the United States.

Despite Neymar’s absence, Al-Hilal had a great season under coach Jorge Jesus. The club broke the world record of 34 consecutive victories in men’s football. At the same time, he won the Saudi championship for the 19th time. The number 10 played just five games for the club, with one goal scored and two assists.
