Children of the 90s fondly remember Highlander, the cult film starring Christophe Lambert as the quiet and mysterious Scottish immortal. Today, the 67-year-old star passed away, his character finally finding eternal rest during the events of 2001’s Opus 4.
Since then, the saga has unfairly fallen into oblivion, despite many years of efforts to revive it. However, thanks to Chad Stahelski, the creator of John Wick, the franchise will rise from the ashes very soon, with Henry Cavill starring as Conor McLeod as Christopher Lambert’s replacement.

“Training is about to begin in earnest. This process will be very long and I would love to be a part of it. There are limits to what I can say at this point. I want everything to remain a secret for as long as possible.”Cavill told Collider in late January.
On Feb. 6, at Josh Horowitz’s mic, the former Man of Steel dropped other hints about the direction this new adaptation of the iconic saga will take. “I will have to answer this question very carefully”Henry Cavill first warned.
“I was a Highlander fan. They were really fun movies. Obviously I watched them when I was much younger and I’ve been watching them ever since. But I also watched the TV series.”he continued.
“I really liked the whole mythology behind these stories. This idea of a tragic warrior with more of a story to tell than just a cool guy with a cool sword doing cool things. It’s much deeper.”analyzed the 41-year-old artist.
Henry Cavill was very involved
“I can’t say right now how much our version of Highlander will be inspired by the TV series. What they’ve done so far and what we’re doing with the script is extraordinary. I think it’s extraordinary. The public will be very, very pleased.”, promises Henry Cavill. Fans of the Highlander series, hosted by Adrian Paul from 1992 to 1998, will be excited by the idea of the show’s mythology being integrated into the upcoming storyline.
“We have enough elements to develop this world and expand the license. The mythology is so important that it’s very delicate to work with. You have to take the time to build the story, especially through flashbacks, to explore everything it has. Mythology”– Chad Stahelski confided.
“They said, whatever you did with the gunfights on John Wick, we want you to try and do the same with the sword fights on Highlander. We want you to do something cool and unique that makes the audience say. They’ve never seen that before.”It was also confirmed by the filmmaker, which excited the fans.
Currently in pre-production, the work is the director’s priority before returning to the John Wick license for Episode 5.
