Call management application gains the function of cloning the user’s voice and answering calls with artificial intelligence

The Truecaller app has launched a different proposal to manage unwanted calls: you can clone your voice and use it in an AI assistant that answers calls for you. The novelty uses the technology of Azure AI speech, Microsoftand was announced during this year’s Microsoft Build.

Truecaller’s AI Assistant is a feature that automatically answers calls and talks to the person on the other end of the line – the goal is to decide whether the call is urgent and then forward it to the user or ask the person to contact you via e -mail.email or call later. Previously, the tool used some standardized audio templates, but now you can customize and clone each person’s speech.

The feature works as follows: the user records a short excerpt displayed by the app, and then Azure AI Speech identifies the patterns and creates a digital clone for Truecaller. Subsequently, all calls are answered by the assistant, who identifies himself as a digital version of the person and chats quickly.

The application has not yet reported whether voice data is stored locally on the device.

Availability

The feature is only available to subscribers of the paid version of Truecaller and was initially released for testing in the countries of South Africa, Australia, Canada, Chile, the United States, India and Sweden. After this phase, the company plans to release the tool in more countries.

The result seems to come from a dystopian science fiction future, but refers to an increasingly frequent reality with generative artificial intelligence. Last year, the company HeyGen announced a tool for translate videos into another language while maintaining the person’s voiceFor example.
