This six-episode German fiction is part of a popular genre of literary romance adaptations that combine drama and sensuality with franchise successes like After, Against the Sense or Through My Window.
Genre fans were there as Maxton Hall was a huge hit on Prime Video and AlloCiné viewers gave it a perfect 4.3 out of 5! The complicated love story between Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James Beaufort (Damian Hardung, featured in the Netflix series How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)) won over subscribers.
Will the second season of ‘Maxton Hall’ have a problem?
The production of the German series, created by Daphne Ferraro, is bound to face rental problems. Indeed, Maxton Hall takes its name from the prestigious private high school where Ruby and James attended and developed a relationship.
And the Prime Video drama team chose Marienburg Castle south of Hanover, owned by a wealthy German family with British connections, to film. But the media Hanover Allgemeine reported the deterioration of the residence, which had to be closed indefinitely due to the presence of a wood-destroying fungus in the roof structure.
Some parts of the castle, which is more than 160 years old, are even at risk of demolition, which means the building will be closed to visitors and undergo lengthy renovations. So how will the team at Maxton Hall solve this problem for the upcoming filming of the second season of the series?
