The third and final season of the series Sunof Prime Video, promises to end Pedro Dom’s intense career with a flourish. In an interview with the actors Gabriel Leone and Flávio Tolezani, who play the protagonist and his father respectively, shared their experiences and reflections on the series that has conquered the Brazilian public.
Returning to the universe of Sun
When asked about returning to the characters, Flávio Tolezani expressed his satisfaction in revisiting Victor for the third time: “It’s a pleasure, it’s a pleasure to do this series. Taking it for the third time, we’ve always said it, I mean, it’s a unique possibility. For us it was the first time [que pudemos] To do this, revisit the character for the third time.
According to him, spending so much time in the role brought maturity and depth, especially considering external challenges, such as the pandemic, which increased the gap between seasons. “So to revisit all of that in a work that has such a positive impact is wonderful, it’s truly incredible,” Tolezani added.
Action and technical challenges
Gabriel Leone commented on the action scenes of the final season, a key element of the series: “The action scenes are always interesting, because, in effect, it’s a big puzzle between us and the stuntmen and the decoupage, the storyboard and things like that. And this happened every season. But Sun There is a lot of action, both Pedro and Victor, even in the missions he carries out.”
One scene in particular, the tunnel sequence – which appears at the end of seasons one and two, but doesn’t end until the end of the series – was recorded over the course of three seasons. Leone detailed: “We recorded it in three pieces. We recorded the first part in the first season, the second in the second and the third now in the third. And on Monday we had a surprise, which was the change of all the lighting in the Rebouças tunnel, where we filmed.”

The complexity of the recording required meticulous post-production work, including lighting adjustments to maintain visual continuity. “I think the tunnel, if I’m not mistaken, was repainted, so on top of that there was a lot of post-processing work needed,” Leone explained.
Address sensitive topics
The series Sun is known for tackling sensitive topics such as police violence and drug trafficking. Flávio Tolezani underlined the importance of addressing these problems. “I think it’s very important. I have the pleasure, I like to do – I have done it often in my life and I am very happy about it – a job that really has a social function, that tells something related to the real problems of our society”.

He highlighted how the series provokes discussions on social issues, influencing public perceptions on topics such as chemical dependency and family breakdown. “This triggers a discussion, the possibility of a discussion within society. This affects the family unit which sees a family completely broken up due to addiction, due to cocaine.”
Legacy of the series
When asked about the legacy of Sun, Gabriel Leone reflected on the impact of the series. “I think that, above all, the original idea of the series, the reason for telling this story — which is a sad story, it’s a tragedy — this also touches the family members who are alive, who are directly involved. But I think it has great social importance.”
Leone emphasized that the series not only entertains, but also illuminates critical issues, especially drug addiction. “We don’t necessarily bring solutions or answers, but I think just talking about it is very important.”
Sun concludes its journey by bringing important debates to light and leaving an indelible mark in the representation of the complexities of life in Rio de Janeiro.
