Francisco El Hombre, Lirinha, Cupinzeiro perform a free show in Campinas

This weekend around 25 artistic and cultural attractions will take place at the Fair

Francisco, El Hombre, Tita Reis, Cacique & Pajé, Sandália de Prata, Lirinha, Comunidade Jongo Dito Ribeiro, Flautins Matuá and Cupinzeiro are some of the confirmed attractions of the Neusa Paviato Agrarian Reform Fair, which takes place at the Estação Cultura, in Campinas (SP), between 24 and 26 May. See the full program.

Cultural activities occupy the main stage and circulation spaces of the Fair throughout the day at different times. This Friday (24th) and Saturday (25th), the attractions continue the event until 10pm, while on Sunday (26th) the activities end at 7pm.

In addition to the confirmed attractions, the Fair permanently hosts the “40 Years of the MST Exhibition”, with photographs by João Zinclar and Douglas Mansur; on the 24th the film “Antes do Prato” will be screened and on Sunday (26th) the film “Olhar de Cícera”.

Cultural programming is central to the Fair’s offering and, as explained by Jade Percassi, of the state management of the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST), it is a dimension closely connected with the political project defended by the Movement and with the construction of agriculture .

“For us it is perfectly logical that an Agrarian Reform Fair, which brings our agricultural production and our already benefited products into our agro-industries, which are the result of the conquests of the struggle of people who practice other production relations, but also other social relations , can present art as a central aspect of it”.

He explains that, just as the Fair promotes conversation circles to dialogue with society on environmental issues, on the topic of healthy eating as a right for all, “the artistic groups, who are allies of the Movement for the first time, who support, what trust and who believe in our social project, are those who walk with us and who bring protest and beauty in its different forms into their art”, concludes Percassi.

About the Fair

During the three days, around 10 tons of products and 250 fresh and processed items, handicrafts, books, among others, will be sold on stalls in the regions of the state; in the Culinária da Terra space, made up of 13 stalls, a variety of typical dishes of the state are prepared; and a series of speaking circles and seminars are planned.

The MST also organizes on Saturday (25th) a political cultural act in defense of agrarian reform with the presence of national and regional politicians and on Sunday (26th) the conference “Climate crisis and popular agrarian reform” with the participation of public personalities and relevant names in this discussion. The activities will also see the participation of various partner movements and organisations.
