Back when going to the movies was a favorite weekend pastime, there were films that were shown multiple times. What holds the record – and will surely hold it forever – is The sound of music, which lasted an impressive 147 weeks in theaters. More than two years in which millions of spectators passed through the stands to enjoy the voice of Julie Andrews.

Recognized as one of the greatest works of American cinema, The Sound of Music grossed $286.2 million upon its release. An impressive figure which, net of inflation, reaches 2.6 billion dollars. That would make it one of the highest-grossing films in history, behind Avatarswhich recorded a turnover of 2.923 billion, e Avengers: Endgamewhich earned 2.797 billion.
If you don’t know what The Sound of Music is about, it’s weird, but who knows, maybe the generation gap has something to do…
