The Mad Max series is a franchise created by Australians George Miller and Byron Kennedy. Miller directed all of the films, which consist of post-apocalyptic and dystopian works with action scenes and frenetic car chases.

Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985)

George Miller and Mel Gibson return in this third film, which also stars Tina Turner. In the plot, Max (Gibson) arrives in a city in the middle of the desert with primitive rules.

The place is led by Auntie Entity (Turner). Max is forced to fight in an arena and is exiled to the desert when he refuses to kill his opponent. However, he meets a group of feral children who come to consider him a messiah.

Mad Max: Road Fury (2015)

George Miller directs this fourth film in the series, but this time Tom Hardy plays Max. The cast also includes Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoë Kravitz, Abbey Lee and Courtney Eaton.

In a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world, resources such as water and gasoline are extremely scarce and dominated by warlords. In the plot, Max Rockatansky (Hardy) joins a group of rebels led by Furiosa (Theron) in a frenetic fight against the army of the terrible tyrant cult leader, Immortan Joe (Keays-Byrne).
