On Wednesday the Tricolor will face the Argentines, who need a simple victory to finish top of group B of the Libertadores
San Paolo continues its preparation for the duel against Talleres, this Wednesday (29th), at 9.30pm, at MorumBIS, in the last round of the Libertadores group stage. Already qualified for the round of 16, the Tricolore still has one objective to achieve before moving on to the direct elimination phase. Finish first in your group.
Vice leader with ten points, the Tricolore will reach the same 13 points in case of victory. The same score that Talleres has at the moment. In case of triumph, both teams will finish the first phase with the same season, with four wins, one draw and one defeat. In this way the goal difference is used as a tiebreaker.
At the moment, San Paolo has five goals to score, while Talleres has six. Therefore, a simple 1-0 victory places Tricolor as leaders of Group B.
In the round of 16, the teams with the best championship have the advantage of deciding the first phase of the knockout phase at home. In the subsequent phases, command on the pitch is defined based on the score of the group stage finishers. Therefore, scoring the most points and having a better overall position is important for the team to decide important matches at MorumBIS.
At the moment only Fluminense, in group A, and Palmeiras, in group F, are the only teams with guaranteed leadership. The Tricolor is thus looking for a victory, even if a simple one, to join the other Brazilians and also dominate the field in the round of 16.
