Years after its launch, Steve Jobs’ company had finally given up and was developing an Apple TV+ application for Android. The rumor was spread by Bloomberg, which received information that big technologies have started looking for engineers in the market who are experts in the competing system.
And this information came in an unusual way: the announcement of a vacancy. The company is looking for a senior software engineer specializing in Android to join its team.
And the job description specifies that the main goal is to develop an application used by millions of people to watch TV and sports, only for Android. They didn’t use the name Apple TV+, but it could have just been Apple TV+…

Rivalry aside, the change will be highly appreciated by users themselves and has the potential to attract new subscribers.
Today, those who subscribe to Apple TV+ but have Android phones must watch shows in a web browser via the website tv.apple.com. This means limited options, more instability and less ease of access – and, believe me, the simple fact that there isn’t already a dedicated app discourages some people from subscribing to the streaming service.
Other advantages of the app
Beyond this issue of ease and access, the biggest benefit of having your own app, in my opinion, is the ability to download to watch content offline.
I did this on my last big trip and managed to rewatch the first season of game of Thrones. And no, I haven’t stopped enjoying the journey. But it was a nice distraction during the flight there and back, and during that pre-sleep moment. Instead of turning on the TV in my hotel room, I put one of my favorite series on my phone.
Another interesting benefit is the notifications that a website doesn’t give you. And they are very useful. In the busyness of your daily life, you may end up forgetting that launch you wanted so much to see. A simple notification solves this problem.
Finally, Apple TV+ is home to some American sports leagues (and that’s more true for their audience, unless you follow football and baseball). Apple Streaming offers the so-called MLS Season Pass and Friday Night Baseball. Fans of these sports and Android owners who go out to dinner with their girlfriend or wife will really appreciate this new app.
