“A Family Affair” isn’t Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron’s first movie together: the other one was a flop

One of Netflix’s most anticipated June releases is “A Family Affair,” a film directed by Richard LaGravenese and starring Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.

This film promises to join the long list of romantic comedies that have resurfaced on billboards and streaming services in recent months, entertaining audiences with a dose of light humor, family hooks, and an all-star cast.

However, it’s worth remembering that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the star duo on screen.

Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman to star in ‘A Family Affair,’ a Netflix movie

On June 28, “A Family Affair” will arrive on Netflix, a film revolving around a woman who falls in love with a noticeably younger man. The main problem in this relationship is that he is his daughter’s boss, an arrogant Hollywood actor whom his young employee loathes on a personal level.

Throughout the film, the mother must explore the feelings she has for him and, at the same time, her daughter’s reaction to their romance.

In addition to Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman in the lead roles, the cast includes the talents of Joey King, Liza Koshy and Kathy Bates.

Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman had already worked together in ‘The Paperboy’

The truth is that before ‘A Family Affair’, the duo had already shared the credits on the big screen with ‘The Paperboy’, a 2012 film directed by Lee Daniels.

Set in 1969 and based on Pete Dexter’s book of the same name, ‘The Paperboy’ is a story of suspense and drama set in the southern United States. The story revolves around a young journalist who gets involved in investigating the case of a man sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit.

In “Dangerous Loves,” the title given to him in Latin America, Efron plays Jack Jansen, a young man who becomes an assistant to his brother Ward, played by Matthew McConaughey, a reporter for the Miami Times. Kidman, for her part, plays Charlotte Bless, a woman who has fallen in love with a man on death row and will do anything to free him from such a fate, Hillary Van Wetter, played by John Cusack.

“The Paperboy” received mixed reviews upon release, although since then there have been more negative than positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, it has only a 45 percent approval rating from specialized critics and 33 percent from the general public.

Let us know in the comments if you saw ‘The Paperboy’ then or if you plan to see ‘A Family Affair’.
