The Tribeca Film Festival will premiere five short films produced with artificial intelligence (AI), according to the The Hollywood journalist. The shorts will use OpenAI’s Sora model, which turns text commands into video footage. This is the first time this type of technology will be highlighted at a film festival.
The film festival will honor short films produced with artificial intelligence
“Tribeca is rooted in the fundamental belief that storytelling inspires change. Humans need stories to thrive and make sense of our broken, beautiful world,” said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises.

The short films will be screened on June 15th. The filmmakers – who were not identified – had access to the Sora model, which is not yet available to the public.
(Incidentally, artists must follow the terms of agreements negotiated during the recent AI strikes.)
Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, said that the feedback provided by these directors will be used to “make Sora a better tool for all creators.” [leia-se: profissionais que trabalham com criatividade].”

The initiative comes after a series of agreements between OpenAI and several media companies. Vox Media, The Atlantic, News Corp and even Reddit have struck deals with ChatGPT’s developer to allow the company to train its models with content from those companies.
Meanwhile, Meta and Google are pursuing similar collaborations with Hollywood movie studios to train their AI models.
