Dragon Raja, or Long Zu, is one of the most talked about anime of recent times. The Chinese animated series was adapted from the work of the same name, created by Jiang Nan, and is produced by the Tencent company.

So far the animation has a season of 16 episodes, with a story full of action, surprises and twists. The first part of the series premiered in August 2022 and ended in November of the same year.

According to studio Garden, the story of Dragon Raja tells of Lu Mingfei, an ordinary high school teenager who is preparing for graduation. He receives an acceptance letter to Cassel University, which he didn’t even apply for. Upon arriving at the university, Lu discovers that the school’s mission is none other than to protect humanity from dragons.

Where to watch the Dragon Raja anime?

The anime premiered on August 19, 2022 exclusively on the Chinese streaming service QQ VIP. Subsequently, the complete debut season was also available on Bilibili, Tencent Video and WeTV platforms, which can only be accessed in China and some other Asian countries.

In Brazil, the animation can be officially seen on the Crunchyroll platform, which presents all episodes under the name Dragon Raja – The Blazing Dawn, with subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese.

Although it does not yet have a release date, the second season should arrive on the same Chinese streaming channels that launched the series.

Curiosities about Dragon Raja

1 – Production took a long time to complete

The anime was first announced in August 2020, the year it received its first artwork. In August 2021, the anime received another preview and, from week to week, updates followed, until the definitive debut in 2022.

2 – Chinese anime?

The animated series is considered an anime and falls into the Donghua category. This name is given to animations that use their own aesthetic, made in China, or that adapt manhua – comics that replicate the aesthetic of manga made in Chinese territory.

3 – Good rating

In addition to being a hit in China, the anime has attracted attention around the world, garnering good reviews. The website My Anime List, which aggregates ratings of different anime, shows Dragon Raja with a rating of 7.14, based on 3,474 users. On IMDb the score is 8.2.

4 – The characters are interesting and complex

Dragon Raja stands out mainly for its well-constructed characters that engage the viewer. The story consists of characters such as Chu Zihang, Lu Mingze, Chen Motong, Caesar Gattuso and Finger Von Frings, as well as the protagonist Lu Mingfei.

5 – Inspired by a game

Dragon Raja, in addition to being based on Jiang Nan’s web novel, is also inspired by a popular mobile game of the same name, created by the Chinese company Zulong Entertainment.

6 – Will Season 2 premiere in 2024?

Shortly after the end of the first part of the series, the second season of Dragon Raja was announced. According to producer Tencent, new episodes should arrive soon. However, despite the speculation, we still have no confirmation or release date for the new season.
