The new Prime Video series, ‘Who Killed Him?’, has captured the attention of viewers by exploring the iconic case of the murder of Paco Stanley, the famous Mexican TV presenter.
Among the cast chosen to embody the most relatable characters in this story, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Diego Boneta, Belinda, Zuria Vega and Javier Ramírez ‘El Cha’ stand out. While the latter may not seem familiar to some, he has had an outstanding career in entertainment.
Javier ‘El Cha’ Ramírez’s career: From music to acting in ‘Who Killed Him?’
After several years away from the screen, Javier returned to acting with the help of director Humberto Hinojosa, who chose him to play Benito Castillo in the series “Who Killed Him?”, a key character in the story.
The third chapter of the melodrama explores his relationship with Paco Stanley, since Benito was extremely close to the presenter. In addition to being his friend, he was also his co-star on his show until he was apparently suspended for a year without a job at a TV station for allegedly revealing his new projects with Stanley.
The melodrama recounts how the also-deceased politician changed personality after Mario Bezares became his partner and Stanley’s alleged drug-trafficking ties, specifically the Lord of the Skies.
What does Javier Ramirez look like without his characterization?
Javier Ramirez’s participation in the series has been impeccable and his work in fleshing out the role of Benito Castillo has pleasantly surprised viewers. Something that may shock many is that “El Cha” in addition to being an actor is a Mexican musician, producer and announcer born on February 9, 1968, with an enviable career. He was one of the founding members of the bands Fobia and Moderatto, two extremely current bands on the country’s music scene. In addition, he is a prominent announcer participating in the “La Hora Nacional” program from 2023.
Previously, Javier starred in films and series such as ‘Vivir Mata’, ‘Club de Cuervos’ and ‘Se Renten Quarters’, so his participation in ‘Who Killed Him?’ marks his triumphant return to acting. In fact, his characterization as Benito also gives reason for discussion, since in social networks they claim that he is identical to the driver in real life.
In a recent interview with music producer Javier Paniagua, ‘El Cha’ revealed how he was chosen to play Benito in the series and was surprised to see that he would not be making a simple cameo.
In general, Javier Ramírez noted that he had a good experience filming the series due to the kindness of his colleagues. However, he said the only “bad” thing was that he had little time to prepare.
