A 25-year-old cult, the saga that moved millions has revealed the trailer for its film adaptation

Two years after Christoph Gans announced the project, Return to Silent Hill has finally released its disturbing first trailer. After his adaptation dating back to 2006, the French director returns to the cursed city to shake us up!

This time, Christoph Gans chose to more faithfully adapt the story of the 2nd Silent Hill game released in 2001 on the PlayStation 2, certainly the most popular of the franchise. We find James Sunderland, a man broken by separation from his true love. One day, a mysterious letter reaches him and calls him to Silent Hill to send him in search of the woman he loves.

There he finds himself in a city he once knew, but which seems to have been transformed by an unknown evil spirit. As James penetrates deeper into this terrifying darkness, he encounters terrifying, sometimes familiar figures. He then begins to wonder if he is going crazy and struggles with himself to find meaning in this strange reality in order to save his love.

According to the first images of the new feature film, highlighted by Akira Yamaoka’s haunting music, Christophe Gunn wants to further traumatize us with a sticky and unsettling atmosphere as desired. Famous monsters from the saga are in attendance, from faceless bloodthirsty nurses to a pyramid head to a legendary video game antagonist. And so, the most amazing creature of the saga will return to torment the hero of the story (and our minds).

It is Jeremy Irvine who will slip into James Sunderland’s suit. His wife, Mary, is played by Hannah Emily Anderson. “This is Silent Hill for today’s audience, but I know that Silent Hill is a very good video game franchise and a work of art in the noblest sense of the term.”said the filmmaker in June 2022 when announcing the project.

“The people who thought of Silent Hill put a lot of effort into it. To get to know them, they’re people of extreme integrity. It was important to me to design Silent Hill for today’s audience.” As of now, no release date has been announced. However, we can bet on the window revolving around October 2024, the month of the PlayStation 5 remake of Silent Hill 2.
