Warning, this article contains spoilers for the end of Umbrella Academy Season 3!
Have you devoured the third season of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix and are you convinced that the conclusion of the final episode means that Allison (Amy Revere-Lampman) is in heaven? No!
to the microphoneandSeries creator Steve Blackman did indeed refute this popular theory with fans: “Many people believe that Alison, Ray and Claire are ghosts. That’s not the point. He brought them back. Ray and Claire now exist in this timeline no matter what.“
And not only is Alison well and truly reunited with her daughter and her husband, but she also finds herself in the same reality as the other Hargreaves. “Although she is not in this park with her siblings, she is in Los Angeles at the exact same time.
A few fans told me, “No, no, it’s empty,” and they died. I said: No, no, they are not dead. This is real.’ Ray is as real as Claire or Alison is real“, the screenwriter assured, before detailing how such a reunion could happen:
“To be clear, because so much happens in those last 10 minutes, Hargreaves has reprogrammed the world. He makes a deal with Alison that if she supports him, he will get what he wants. We don’t see the deal made in private, but the deal is “I’ll give you back your daughter and your husband.” They don’t have to exist in the same timeline. One lives in 63 years, the other in 2018.“
However, at the last moment, seeing the brothers suffer, Alison decides to stop the adoption experiment, which will not be in vain…
“He hasn’t quite finished his deal with her because he won’t let her finish what she’s doing. Hargreaves is playing with this machine that we don’t understand. Obviously if you don’t let it end there will be consequences next season. He has no idea what buttons he’s pressing“, the showrunner confides.
Steve Blackman didn’t stop there with the revelations, as he also shed light on the Season 3 post-credits scene featuring Ben (Justin H. Min).
If many thought that this was a new version of the character or even the dead one from the Umbrella Academy miraculously returned, it is not. The screenwriter claimed that the Ben we see in Korea was the only Sparrow Academy survivor we met this season.
“This is the same version of Ben that we’ve seen and we’re seeing something that will probably happen next season. It’s kind of a hint of what’s to come. But this is our Ben. This is not Ben in another timeline. It’s a nest of sparrows, and that’s all I can tell you“, he noted.

And let’s add a little secret: “It’s really in Korea. It’s a Korean subway car, you can tell from the sounds. But how that fits into next season, I’m not going to tell anyone. It’s a secret!“
Which leads to new theories on the internet. And there’s no need to ask Benny’s interpreter for information, he’s on the same stage as the audience! “I shot it with zero information. I know that Ben is in the Korean subway. But that’s all I know“, said Justin H. Min during the interview E! news.
One can only hope that Netflix quickly announces the renewal of Umbrella Academy so that production on season 4 can begin, so that there will be an answer in the not-too-distant future!
