Geek Girl is one of the ongoing Netflix series. This English production, adapted from Holly Smiley’s novel, follows Harriet, an awkward teenager who has always wanted to fit in. But a London modeling agency notices her and understands that sometimes we need to stand out from the crowd.
It is the young Emily Carrey who has been chosen to slip into the skin of this refreshing heroine who suffers from autistic disorders and navigates a world whose codes she does not know.
A journey that the 21-year-old English actor knows well, as he explains of this interview : “I was bullied at school for the same reasons as Harriet. Because I wanted to study and get the best results in school. Playing this character reconciled me with who I was.”
From Wonder Woman to Game of Thrones
He, who recently admitted that he was neuroatypical, started his career quite early. He was noticed by an agent at the age of 8, but only at the age of 10 he took part in his first theater productions.
After several appearances in plays and musicals, young Carey landed her first role. She was credited with playing the younger version of Gal Gadot in the DC film Wonder Woman. We especially see her learning to become a successful Amazon. The following year, she played a young Lara Croft in Tomb Raider alongside Alicia Vikander.
But we’ll have to wait until 2022 for Emily Carey to finally make it. He was just 19 when he landed a role in Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, which centers on the history of the Targaryen family – itself adapted from George RR Martin’s novel Fire and Blood.
She once again voices a “younger” version of the character, this time Alyssent Hightower (daughter of the Hand of the King and future Queen) in episode 5, before being replaced by Olivia Cooke after a time jump. Despite her limited presence, the young woman struck a chord with audiences and secured excellent career opportunities in the process.
And it starts with Netflix and Geek Girl, watching on Netflix!
