Deadpool and Mysterio in a sci-fi movie, it’s possible and it’s available on Netflix! In Life – Origin Unknown, Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal find themselves fighting an out-of-control alien monster that they must control.
The film takes place aboard the International Space Station as its six crew members learn about strange extraterrestrial life. During the research, these scientists made a macabre discovery that this creature could be dangerous or even deadly for mankind.

In other words, life takes place entirely on a spaceship in which the crew tries to survive a destructive monster. Of course, this will remind you of many science fiction films, the first of which was Ridley Scott’s first alien. But even if you’ve seen Scott’s 1979 film, Life is still worth watching.
Director Daniel Espinoza (44) reunites with Close Security co-star Ryan Reynolds. And if the budget was inflated due to the stars involved in the casting – especially Gyllenhaal and Reynolds, the budget for the shooting was ultimately quite low, which forced the filmmaker to shoot in rather unusual conditions:
Few means, but ideas
If I do it well, I can be at the level of gravity that cost 150 million. But it required an almost Hitchcockian precision because we didn’t have a lot of time. I didn’t have time to think because our budget was limited. So I shot with one camera and one team – without the other team.

Jake Gyllenhaal
But it’s well known that when it comes to cinema, sometimes financial constraints breed creativity, and Life – Unknown Origin is better than its apparently inevitable comparison to Alien, The Eighth Passenger, 40 years older. Because if the similarities are numerous – expect at any moment to discover that Life is a film from the Ridley Scott saga – Life manages to fascinate with its ideas and visual style. Not original, but very well done.
