Netflix has revealed that its TV app will no longer be available on second- and third-generation Apple TV devices, which launched more than a decade ago. The company provided the information in an email sent to its consumers, claiming that it was a measure to “maintain the best Netflix experience possible.”
Sources from foreign sites say that the date when the change will take place and the applications will stop working will be July 31st. Netflix has also updated the customer support page on its official website with information.
The first three generations of Apple TV devices are already considered “obsolete” by Apple, which has a habit of discontinuing hardware service seven years after it stops selling a product.
Older devices are starting to lose compatibility with Netflix
Apple TV sets from this era, however, are so “outdated” in the eyes of the company that made them, that they don’t have Apple’s App Store.
