The domestic trailer for ‘Alien: Romulus’ shows terror in space

The new film in the “Alien” series features young people trapped in a space station with bloodthirsty alien monsters

20th Century Studios has released the domestic trailer for “Alien: Romulus,” in a dubbed and subtitled version. The new feature film in the “Alien” series, which began in 1979, marks a return to the original premises, with the plot set inside a space station, transformed into a horror scenario of bloodthirsty monsters.

The sequel is directed by Uruguayan director Fede Alvarez, who also wrote the screenplay together with Rodo Sayagues, his partner in “The Man in the Dark” (2016) and “Death of the Demon” (2013). Unlike other films that focus on adults in corporate, military, and scientific roles, the ninth installment in the series shows young people’s reactions to the creatures.

The official synopsis is vague, but the trailer reveals that Romulus is the name of an abandoned space station/laboratory where a group of young people find themselves attacked by face-sucking aliens in dark corridors. One of the attacks is particularly sexually explicit, while another shows an overgrown chest about to explode. Later, an adult xenomorph monster also appears to breathe in a protagonist’s face.

The cast consists of Cailee Spaeny (“Civil War”), Isabela Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold”), David Jonsson (“Industry”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Spike Fearn (“Tell Everything for me”) and Aileen Wu (“Far From Home”).

“Alien: Romulus” will be released in Brazilian theaters on August 15, a day before its release in the United States.
