Moana 2, Arcane, The Lord of the Rings… the biggest animated hits are back at the 2024 Annecy festival

The 48th edition of the International Animated Film Festival will be held at the beginning of June! Still based in Annecy, the event once again brings together some of the biggest names in the field to talk about creativity, style and technique.

We are counting on the special presence of director Wes Anderson in particular, but also Terry Gilliam, the holder of an honorary crystal throughout his career, as well as the French actor Alain Chabat.

The largest studios used at the festival will also be there. In addition to airing a new movie in the Ultraman franchise, Netflix will present its upcoming animated projects. Disney and Illumination will not be left behind with the sequels that the public is eagerly waiting for: Moana 2, Vice-Versa 2 and Despicable Me 4.

Lord of the Rings fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Andy Serkis to present The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, which is scheduled for release in December 2024. He is accompanied by Kenji Kamiyama and Joseph Cho, director and producer. A film that will reveal the first images.

Fans of Japanese animation will also enjoy the highly anticipated Detective Conan: A Million Stars, Looking Back and Blue Lock: Episode Nagi. There will also be nice, more discreet gems available in the program, such as Anzu, Ghost Cat, which also appear in the skin, or Give It All.

As for our hexagon, this year it is again a French film that has the honor of opening the ball. After presenting and winning the Positive Cinema Prize at Cannes, Michel Hazanavicius’ most prized commodity will be screened at the opening of the festival this Sunday, June 9.
