On July 14, ‘Between Life and Death’ will hit theaters, a police thriller starring Antonio de la TorreMarine Vacth and Olivier Gourmet and written and directed by Giordano Gederlini (the screenwriter of the successful French film ‘Les Miserables’).
In the story we will meet Leo Castaneda, the character played by Antonio de la Torre. Here the man from Malaga is a Spaniard living in Brussels who works as a subway driver. One night he witnesses the suicide of Hugo, his son, of whom he had not known anything for more than two years. After what happened, Leo begins to investigate the causes of his death and discovers that he was involved in a robbery. The search for answers will lead him on a dangerous investigation and face his own past.
In this clip that we show you exclusively from FOTOGRAMAS, the protagonist is being interrogated while they show him the scenes recorded by the security cameras of the terrible accident. The protagonist is reluctant to answer the repertoire of questions to which he is being subjected, but it is clear that he is hiding something.
‘Les miserables’, the film directed by Ladj Ly, won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Festival and the Best Screenplay Award at the 2020 Lumière Awards, César for Best Film 2020, in addition to being nominated for an Oscar for best international movie. He also co-wrote ‘Maternal Instinct’, by Olivier Masset Depasse (Best Screenplay and Best Film at the 2020 Magritte Awards) and ‘Above the Law’, by François Troukens and Jean-François Hensgens.
This will not be the only immersion in other co-productions in which we will soon see Antonio de la Torre. It is expected that in 2023 we will see his work under the orders of Lone Scherfig, in ‘The film accountant’. But first, the man from Malaga will be seen under the orders of Cesc Gay, in ‘History to not tell’, along with María León, Javier Rey, Chino Darín and Anna Castillo, among others. The film will hit theaters on November 22.
This film is a co-production between Spain’s Fasten Films (‘Mediterráneo’), Belgium’s Frakas Produktions (‘Titane’), France’s Noodles Production (‘One year, one night’) and Belgium’s Eyeworks (‘Two days, one night ‘). It has the participation of RTVE and Movistar Plus+ and with the support of ICEC and Eurimages. International sales are handled by Le Pacte and national distribution by Filmax.
