The success of “Stranger Things” has been a true Netflix phenomenon since its release in 2016. No wonder, on the eve of production of its final season, it is about to get a spin-off series.

In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, creators Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed they have a new adventure in mind, but it will be “very different” from what fans are used to. In other words, the new attraction doesn’t have to feature the audience’s favorite characters.

“It’s not about … I read these rumors that there was going to be an Eleven spin-off, or Steve and Dustin,” the Duffers said. “It’s not interesting to us because we’ve done all of this before.”

They explained that they have already addressed the individual narratives about Eleven, Steve, Dustin and others that fans would like to see in their series. “We have spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all this,” they justified.

In this way, the spin-off series will be “a thousand percent different” from “Stranger Things”, having only “narrative sensibility” as a link.

They also have no plans to write and produce the episodes like they did with the current series. While they say they are “really excited” about the idea, the creators hope to “find the right person to pass the baton” and take on the role of showrunner.

So far, the Duffers haven’t shared their plans for the spinoff with Netflix executives either. However, it was revealed last month that young actor Finn Wolfhard (Mike) has already figured out what this is all about.

“We think everyone, including Netflix, will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it’s very, very different. But somehow Finn Wolfhard – who’s a crazy, smart guy – guessed correctly what it would be. Finn, no one else is. you know! “they said.
